Updater for HotSync v3.1.1 for Windows

Posted February 28, 2001
This upgrade fixes 3 main problems related to the HotSync Manager v3.1.1 and its interaction with some computers. These issues are:
- Some computers with Windows 2000 installed cannot synchronize with Palm handhelds via the infrared port. This problem is related to changes in Windows 2000 IR configuration. HotSync manager has been updated to accommodate these changes.
- Some computers with Windows 2000 installed may not undock properly if an older version of HotSync manager is running on the computers.
- On some computers, Windows may lock up if the HotSync Manager is running and the cradle is connected to the computer.
NOTE: This software is for Palm branded handhelds ONLY. Contact the original manufacturer for your handheld to address these problems for non-Palm branded Palm OS products.
Installation Instructions
- Download:
- Double-click on the extracted file of your desired language.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
During the next HotSync® operation, the new system software automatically downloads to your Palm handheld.
File Transfer Problems During Upgrade:
If during the file transfer process of the installer a dialog box titled "Locked File Detected" appears, informing you that a file cannot be transferred because it is "in use" or "locked", select
the "Retry" button. If this is not successful, select the "Cancel" button to terminate the installation process, then start the file transfer again.
HotSync Manager Version Number
After installing the Palm Desktop updater, the version number of the HotSync Manager may appear incorrect. This is not a functional problem. The installer did properly upgrade the system.
