What is PhoneLink Update?
Your handheld is compatible with a number of mobile phones and service providers out of the box. Phone Link Update adds more phones and service providers, so that you can use your mobile phone's Internet connection with these applications on your handheld:
SMS (text messaging)
MMS (photo and video messaging)
Email
Web browsing
Note: Additional mobile network services may be required and are not supplied in this update. For example, in order to do MMS messaging, you must have MMS services on your mobile account. Check with your mobile service provider for more information. Moreover, applications required for some of the above features may not be included with all handhelds, and must be purchased separately. Check your handheld's user guide or specifications for more information.
Note: This update is not compatible with Palm handhelds using the original Palm Bluetooth Card software (instead, get the update), Palm's Mobile Internet Kit, or Palm's Mobile Connectivity Software. Phone Link Update is not compatible with the Palm Tungsten W.

Unzip the file you downloaded. Note the location to which the file is extracted. Inside the extracted file, there will be three folders: PhoneLink Application, PhoneLink Drivers, and PhoneLink Additional Drivers.
Launch Quick Install: from the Windows Start menu, select Programs, then Palm (or Palm), then Palm Quick Install. (Note: Tungsten T and Palm Bluetooth Card users, launch Palm Desktop and select the Install Tool icon).
In Quick Install, select the correct user name from the User list (see how).
Now you will begin dragging and dropping files from the PhoneLink folders into the Handheld portion of Quick Install. You won't need to install allthe files in the PhoneLink Update folders. We'll help you determine which ones you need.
Open the PhoneLink Drivers folder. All users, drag and drop these files to Quick Install:
MoHiSp1Lib.prc
NMSCPT.prc
PMHDB.pdb
PMNDB.pdb
UPDD.prc
Open the PhoneLink Additional Drivers folder. Do you see the driver for your mobile phone? If so, drag and drop the driver to Quick Install, If you don't see your mobile phone, do nothing in this folder.
Your Mac's web browser should automatically expand the file into a folder that contains three folders: PhoneLink Application, PhoneLink Drivers, and PhoneLink Additional Drivers. If your Mac's web browser does not expand the file automatically, you will need to use an expansion utility such as Allume StuffIt Expander to decompress the file. Note the folder location in which the decompressed files are saved.
On your Mac, locate the Send to Handheld droplet. This is placed on your Mac desktop when you install the software from your Palm device's CD-ROM. If you deleted or misplaced the droplet, you can find the original droplet here: (Mac Hard Drive) : Applications : Palm
Now you will begin dragging and dropping files from the PhoneLink folders onto the Send to Handheld droplet. You won't need to install all the files in the PhoneLink Update folders. We'll help you determine which ones you need.
